A funny thing happens when you give away short domain suffixes: the good names go fast. That is a good problem to have, and it is also the reason this post exists. The PFS family is now six live zones, and the short ones are the first to fill up, so we made more room.
Say hello to us.mw.
A word about the name
Read it out loud: yourname.us.mw. That middle piece, us, is doing a lot of work. A page at alice.us.mw reads like it belongs to someone. A project at mybot.us.mw sounds like something a group of friends put together, which, if you think about what this project is, is exactly right. Made by us, for us.
It is also just short. Five characters after your label, and it fits on a business card, a git remote, or a screenshot without wrapping.
What you get
The same treatment every PFS suffix gets:
- Completely free, with no annual fees;
- SEUS DNS built in: A, AAAA, MX, NS, CAA, TXT, CNAME, ALIAS, HTTPS records, edited right in the console. Your domain resolves the moment a record is in;
- No waiting: search the name, register, add a record. One console, one flow;
- One label, keep it simple:
yourname.us.mwworks,your.name.us.mwdoes not.
The usual house rules apply as always: a GitHub account at least two years old for verification, and please deploy something within 30 days, since idle domains are reclaimed for people who will use them.
Come pick yours early
Here is the part where I would normally say a name this good will not last. I do not actually know that. What I know is that the other short suffixes filled up faster than we expected, and right now the three-letter and four-letter names under us.mw are mostly still sitting there.
If one of them is yours, go search it in the domain console before someone else's weekend project gets it first.
When you have built something, show us: the community forum with the #PFS tag is where we all hang out. And if this project keeps being useful to you, our star count on GitHub says thank you on our behalf.
